Translatly aimed to deliver on-demand, video-based translation in medical settings, but its platform faced ongoing code instability, incomplete features, and constant friction between what the CEO envisioned and what the external agency delivered. Because patient data is sensitive, any downtime or security gap posed major risks to the product’s credibility. Costs soared as more resources were poured into troubleshooting and patching rather than building a robust system from the ground up.

The Research
An in-depth assessment of Translatly’s workflow and tech stack revealed that quality assurance was almost an afterthought, with minimal testing protocols in place. Security audits exposed weak encryption standards that put medical data at risk. Miscommunication between executives and development teams also meant vital product features were delayed or launched without proper validation.
The Solution
Stepping in as Fractional CTO, Taieb overhauled the software delivery process. Automated testing and code reviews were introduced to elevate quality, while new security guidelines aligned with regulatory demands in medtech. By reorganizing team responsibilities and clarifying feature priorities, the product roadmap became grounded in realistic milestones, significantly cutting back on misaligned work. This transformation allowed Translatly to uphold medical-sector standards, giving users reliable, secure translation services in critical situations.
